You asked, I answered

I was gearing up to write an about me article, but I decided it would be more fun to get you all involved. Taking your questions from social media, here is a Q and A with yours truly.

Q: Why did you move out of your hometown?

A: You know the feeling you get when you feel like there's no more room for you to grow and that there's nothing left for you somewhere? That was the feeling I had living back at home. Maybe one day I'll move back, but for now there's a version of me I'm looking to meet and am enjoying exploring new places in my new home! (I had planned to move to the Twin Cities right after graduating college, but the pandemic put that on hold for longer than I planned.)

Q: Since we all know you didn't learn how to play hockey, what other sports did you play?

A: LOL. I don't like to make excuses but I have the world's flattest feet so it truly makes it look painful and makes skating way more difficult than it should be. Growing up, I dabbled in soccer, I was a cheerleader, and played volleyball for about six years.

Q: Why St. Cloud State?

A: I knew I wanted to go into sports broadcasting when I was a junior in high school, and after having an admissions counselor come to my high school and talk about all they had to offer, and what most notably garnered all my attention being their broadcasting program, it was a no brainer for me. I'm so thankful for my time at SCSU and all the opportunities going to school there gave me. Go Huskies.

Q: What are you most excited for when you visit Boston?

A: I have really, really needed a getaway trip for awhile. I'm so excited for a weekend trip to see friends and get to explore Boston. I've been to Massachusetts and flown into Logan Airport, but I have never actually been in the city so I am just really excited to see what all it has to offer.

Q: What do you like best about what you do?

A: I love getting to meet different people from all over. There are so many people from across the country I've been able to connect with via social media who I can consider friends. I love getting to be creative, try dumb video ideas out and see how they resonate with you all. I laugh at my own jokes all the time, but when I actually make you guys laugh it genuinely warms my heart. There's so much I'm grateful for on this crazy ride I've been on.

Q: What city would you like to be in to work that's NOT Minnesota?

A: My immediate response is Nashville. I've been there once and I fell in love with the city instantly. I also could see myself in Denver. I've been there a few times and Colorado is just gorgeous. I also would be open to the east coast as I have a few friends who live that way.

Q: First sporting event as a fan?

A: I would go to town ball games growing up or my friends games, but my first professional sporting event was to a Wild game at the Xcel Energy Center when I was 18. We were row four right behind the net. I know I know it took me way too long but that's just not something my family did so I took matters into my own hands with my friends when I was old enough.

Q: Winter, spring, summer, autumn. What is your favorite and least favorite season?

A: This is a really hard question because I can think of reasons why I love them all. If I had to choose, I would say fall is my favorite season. Halloween is my favorite holiday, and not to mention fall in Minnesota is gorgeous. Fall is when football season gets going, there's pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and overall I think there's a lot more going on. My least favorite would have to be winter and it always has been solely because I do have seasonal depression. With the short days and lack of sunshine it really takes a toll on me.

Q: How did you get started with the Wild?

A: I think I was working a closing shift at Texas Roadhouse in my senior year of college when I looked at my LinkedIn and had a message from someone who worked for the Wild who was gauging my interest in a position they had. I almost threw my phone because I was so excited, but long story short that's what initially led me to where I am now as an in-arena host haha.

Q: If not sports journalism, then what?

A: I always used to redecorate my childhood home and rearrange when I was little which my mom did NOT like. She told me "when you're old enough and get your own place you can decorate it however you want" and as Michael Jordan would say I took that PERSONALLY. I love decorating so I would say interior design. Also my mom now asks me for help when it comes to decorating her house so it's funny how that's worked out.

Q: Morning person or night owl?

A: I want so badly to be a night owl but I am not a person you want to be around when I get tired because I get so crabby. It's much easier for me to wake up early than stay up late, so that being said I love my morning routine and love watching the sunrise and am a TODAY Show junkie. Morning person.

Q: What actress would you want to play you in a movie about you?

A: I love Blake Lively so I would say her even though we don't look-a-like. Also, Carrie Underwood has had a couple acting gigs so that's enough for me to trust her with portraying my life story.

Q: Favorite type of flower?

A: I feel this question was setup so that I could say Marc Andre-Fleury, but I love daisies and wildflowers.

Q: If you could pick one current and one legendary hockey player to train you who would it be?

A: Well, we all know I need all the training I can get after seeing my recent trip to the outdoor rink. As far as a legend goes, I feel go big or go home. Wayne Gretzky, you got time to help a girl out? Current player... that one's tricky. I feel like I would make a great defensemen so why not learn from one of the best. I'm going Roman Josi.

Q: Favorite charity you would host a hockey tournament for?

A: I am extremely passionate about animal rescue so I would have to say for a local shelter.

Q: How often do you have to say "Kirsten with an 'e'?

A: People mispronounce and misspell my name all the time. You pick your battles and this is one I have given up on fighting a long time ago.
